Did I already say that the Booker Prize shortlist is out? It’s Will Self, Hilary Mantel, Jeet Thayil, Alison Moore, Tan Twan Eng, and Deborah Levy, in no particular order except the one that my memory invents. [via The Guardian] It is heartening to see Tan Twan Eng on the list, which is as far as regional writing has come to the Booker, as far as I can remember. In fact, he was in the local papers today. Will Self will win though. As with all literary prizes, enjoy the party, WKLC readers! And just ignore the people who take it super seriously.
