Omnivore: Rest of your life.

Omnivore is a regular report on some of the things that I’ve been enjoying during the week (or thereabouts).

This week has been busy! It’ll mostly be over after next week, but this week has been really bad. That said, I did read Saramago’s The Elephant’s Journey and finish off Eduardo Chirinos’s The Smoke of Distant Fires. I will say that I recommend the first to the extent that there is the understanding it’s not representative of the crazy heights that the late Portuguese great is capable of (and one of the quotes on the back cover is very accurate in saying that it’s a grace note near the end of his life). As for the Eduardo Chirinos, I already knew I would love it having read about half of it, but upon completing it… Well, some days you read a book you know you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life.
